About

BGU offers undergraduate, postgraduate and work-based foundation degree courses, with an emphasis on enriching the lives of its students, staff and the community it serves. BGU began life in 1862 as an Anglican teacher training college for women. In 1962 it was renamed Bishop Grosseteste College in honour of Robert Grosseteste, the thirteenth century scientist, philosopher, educator, and Bishop of Lincoln. In 2012, following a successful application for taught degree awarding powers we became an official University, Bishop Grosseteste University.
