Halu Oleo University has historically been founded by Drs. H. La Ode Manarfa (39th Sultan of Buton) in Bau-Bau, Southeast Sulawesi Regency (Baubau City) in the 1960s, until the birth of the University of Southeast Sulawesi. Not only the ideas conveyed by Drs. H. La Ode Manarfa, but also the material used to expedite the campus lecture process, while the establishment of the campus was then warmly welcomed by various groups in Southeast Sulawesi at that time.
